Louis-Philippe BONIN is a saxophonist and pedagogue performing regularly in concert as a soloist or in chamber music both on the local and international scene. Classically trained by Jean-François Guay at the University of Montreal, his passion for his instrument and its repertoire brings him to take extensive courses with Timothy McAllister at the University of Michigan and with other great European solists (Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Christian Wirth…). He attends numerous prestigious events such as the World Saxophone Congress (France, Scotland), the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition (Thailand), the Saxophone European University (France) and the Arosa Saxophone Course (Switzerland).
Frequently invited as a soloist, he has performed with organisations such as the Moldova Philarmonic Orchestra, the “Orchestre à Vent Non Identifié” (OVNI) and the “Société de Musique Contemporaine” (SMCQ) with whom he tours in a child’s concert called “Les Fonoformies” as well as to take part in a concert celebrating the music of important Quebec composers with Ensemble Saxologie, a saxophone quartet he founded in 2012.
He is regularly asked to work as a judge and clinician with numerous organisations such as the “Fédération des Harmonies et Orchestres Symphoniques du Québec” (FHOSQ) and MusicFest Quebec. Louis-Philippe is a saxophone teacher in many institutions in Montreal such as the Saint-Lawrence College. He is also an endorsing Artist of the LEGERE Reeds company and YAMAHA Saxophones.
